Resident Testimonial January 2009

Marjorie Y. moved to the Residences this past September. This is how she finds “living at The Residences” to be so far....

How did you come to live at The Residences?
Initially I didn’t set out to have a condominium in Providence. My home is in Florida, and I have a condominium in Newport. Seeing how Providence has transformed itself made me stop and consider having a place here… a “pied a Terre”. I had sold my large home on the East Side but was not ready to totally leave Providence, where I raised my family. I looked at something on the East Side, then decided I wanted to be downtown. WaterPlace and The Residences seemed to be the most upscale living options.

Why did you chose The Residences?
I thought the lobby and corridors were very quiet and elegant. There is a nice ambience in the building that really appealed to me. And, of course, the views are spectacular. I find it very attractive to be attached to the Providence Place Mall and all it has to offer. I think it was the hotel services that finally swayed me… room service and a 24 hour concierge.

Have you used the concierge or Hotel Services?
Yes! I have used the concierge services. It is absolutely wonderful to have someone here to help you. I have also used room service a few times. The food has been excellent, and the service has been prompt. It always seems to be the same person delivering food to me, and I feel like we are getting to know one another! I think it is all fabulous… it is a good reason why one would want to live here.

Are there any stories about living here that you would like to share?
Before I moved here I had given away many of the things one needs to run a household. I needed to buy a lot of new kitchen and bath items. The people at Bed Bath & Beyond were “beyond” helpful. They actually had an employee come with me and my full carts to the Residences!

What do you like about living in Down City Providence?
I have walked to Trinity Rep, PPAC, The Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium, RISD Museum, Handicraft Club, and the Art Club. I never thought I’d want to live in Down City Providence, but my feelings have changed! I walk around here the way I walk around in New York City. When I walk out the door I feel like I am in an alive and vital place. Also, with the buses at Kennedy Plaza and the train station a few blocks away, I can go into New York, Boston or Logan Airport any day with ease.

What floor plan do you have an why did you choose it?
I had a difficult time choosing between the corner location one bed design, and the one bedroom with a den and additional powder room design. I went back and forth. I loved the corner design with all of the windows, but I really liked the extra room for a den or guest room and wanted the extra half bath. In the end I chose the one bedroom with a den! I have amazing views east to College Hill, Down City and WaterFire.
